Experiences...

Alistratis Caves are located in the region of Serres, and is certainly worth taking the time to visit the area.

Experiences...

The cave is thought to be one of the most beautiful in Europe with outstanding caverns extending beyond natures expectancy, with the impressive rock formations revealing nature at its best and creating a power to enchant all its visitors.

Experiences...

The cavern is 3 km long, with 1km having already been explored and thus visitors can walk the 1km through the corridors and chambers on the guided tour.

Experiences...

The stalactites and stalagmites, some of which are red are highly decorative and remarkable throughout the caves demonstrating that nature is able to create beautiful ornaments.

IThese caves demonstrate nature in all its glory with the phenomenal geographical formations only nature itself can truly comprehend.

Situated 23km North West of the Centre of Drama, the Caves are the longest in Greece, around 12km in length, with 8.5km having already been explored. The Springs of Angitis form an important part of the hydro system in the area with the waters flowing from the mountainous areas of Falakro and Nevrokropi.

The river Angitis flows through the cave forming ponds with interesting insects and animals. The temperatures in the cave are around 17 degrees C with the water at 13 degrees c.

These caves are well worth a visit, not just because of the natural beauty of the caves but also the pleasant surroundings of the area and the history of this destination. Archaeologists have discovered remains of habitation in the form of fireplaces, tools and other objects dating back as far as the Neolithic period (4th MillenniumBCE).
